Due to the scopes long focal length the eyepiece is usually in a very comfortable viewing position. I think this is the scopes best feature. It weighs a lot due to the heavy tube and the equally heavy plywood mount, but I haven't really found this to be an issue. If anything it's a bit of an advantage since the scope is pretty much indestructible and handles well.
Frankly I'm kind of amazed I was able to make such a nice thing with my own two hands. I guess that's the great thing about amateur telescope making. Out there on the mountain top looking at the wonders of nature sometimes it just blows me away that I made this thing myself. If you've got the patience, time and tools I highly recommend trying it yourself.
Focuser: University Optics threaded helical focuser. Cheap ($48), light, nice fine motion control but takes forever to move it in or out an inch.
