Mirror Cell and Secondary Spider

ProtoStar Spider
University Optics Mirror Cell

For the mirror cell and the secondary spider I used commercial components from ProtoStar and University optics. I suppose that's not very "pure" of me as an amateur telescope maker, but the components sure do work nice. Even after bouncing around in the back of a pickup truck the scope holds its collimation.

My only real complaint, which I heard from other ATMers, is that the support bolts supplied by University Optics are way too short. It's not a big deal, but I was a little peeved when I had to dish out more money for the threaded brass rod I have in there now.

Instead of using the mirror clips supplied by University Optics I glued the primary mirror in place with aquarium glue. This is a better way to attach a mirror since there's no stress placed on the surface of the mirror and there's no worry of the clips coming loose and the mirror falling out of its cell.

The secondary is 2.14" in diameter.
